Submissions

A number of contributed papers covering original, unpublished work on the conference topics will be accepted for presentation.

Papers should be submitted to only one topic. The program committee has the right to transfer papers from one topic to another, whenever appropriate.

Among the papers presented to ISLNOM-05, a selection of them will be published in Optical Materials journal as regular paper.

The online submission will be accepted beginning March 2009.

Accepting the request of some colleagues, the deadline for regular submission has been postponed to 15 May 2009.

Authors will be notified whether their papers have been accepted by 31 May 2008. Notifications will be sent to the email address as given during the electronic submission.

A few Postdeadline Paper may be accepted between June and the July, 16.

Registration is open to all members of the scientific and technical community.

Two types of contribution can be chosen:
Oral or Poster
Poster only

Choosing the first option (Oral or Poster) will mean that your submission is automatically submitted as an oral contribution to the refereeing process. However, the programme committee can decide to accept it as a poster, instead.

Choosing the second option (Poster only) will mean that your submission is only eligible for a poster presentation.

Six conference topics can be chosen:
  1. Growth and characterization of optical materials
  2. Solid state Lasers
  3. Nonlinear materials
  4. Thin film and other low dimensional structures

Submission procedure

The submission procedure takes three steps.

1) Download the template of the one-page-abstract, and prepare your paper.
Two types of template are available, a Word and a LaTeX source. Using either files you must prepare a 'camera ready' PDF PDF file for submission.

2) Go to the submission form and register. You will get a proper message online and you will receive the ID number of your paper, and the credentials (login and password needed to continue the submission) by e-mail.
Each registration allows you to submit one paper, only: if you want to submit more than one paper, you must register as many times as needed, to get an unique ID number for each of them.

3) Go to the submission form and use your credentials to insert all information.
Name your one-page-abstract PDF file by using the ID assigned to your contribution, and upload it.
Please note that there is a maximum dimension permitted for the PDF file (approx. 5 MB). If you need to upload a larger file, please contact the Organizing Committee.
The upload procedure accepts only PDF files, and the name must correspond to the assigned ID. Any other file will be rejected.

By using your credentials you can modify any information, and also delete the contribution at any time till the deadline of the submission procedure.

In case of problems with the online submission system, please contact the Organizing Committee.

Any of the following conditions may result in rejection of a paper:

Layout recommendations
  • Paper size: A4 format (210mm X 297mm)
  • Margins should be set for a 2.7 cm top, 2 cm bottom, 2.5 cm left, and right.
  • Format: Acrobat (PDF) file.
  • Title should be 14-point type, centered, bold; elements and acronyms should be capitalized.
  • Author name(s) [12-point type, centered, bold], below the title
  • Author's affiliation and full address (10-point type, centered, italic), below the authors.

For text fonts: use only 12-point Times (roman, bold or italic), and Symbol. Sans Serif Fonts such as Arial can be used in Figures.
Include all equations, drawings, figures and references within the one page limit. Avoid asterisks, acknowledgements, job descriptions or footnotes.
Simple equations should be included in-line wherever possible.
Figures should be relevant to the submission and preferably centered as shown below. Placing subfigures side-by-side is a convenient way to include multiple results within the one page limit.
The figures can be provided in grayscale or colors. Figure captions should be centered beneath figures and in 10-point font.
Figure captions should be indented 1 cm on both sides and justified on both right and left sides.
References should appear at the end of the page in the order in which they are referenced. The font should be 10 point, and the references should be aligned left, as shown below. Within the main text, references should be designated by a number in brackets [1].
Do not add page numbers.
Please be concise in your presentation, highlighting what is novel and original about your submission.
